Fall Recipes for Delicious Dog Treats

October 21, 2021

It may not be chilly enough to wear a sweater, but as the fall months roll around, we can always turn to the tried-and-true flavors of fall. Did you know most of the quintessential tastes of the season are dog friendly, too! Take a peek at these fun recipes to let your pup in on all the fun.

Keep in mind these are not to be used as meal-replacements and only as an addition to your dog’s regular diet.

Apple Pie Pupcakes

Pupcakes:

  • 1 Cup oats
  • 1 Cup Whole Wheat Flour
  • 2 Eggs
  • ½ unsweetened applesauce
  • ¼ cup chopped apple pieces (be sure to peel the apple before chopping and of course do not include any seeds)
  • “Frosting”
  • Peanut butter (check that it does not contain xylitol)

Combine all ingredients and place into a standard cupcake/muffin tin. Bake at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for 25 minutes. Let cool and frost with peanut butter.

Pumpkin Peanut Butter Cookies

  • 1 Cup oats
  • 1 Cup Whole Wheat Flour
  • 2 Eggs
  • ½ cup Canned Pumpkin (NOT pumpkin pie filling – they are different)
  • 2 Tbs Peanut Butter (check that it does not contain xylitol)

Combine all ingredients and roll on a lightly floured surface. Cut out desired shapes of treats, just make sure they are roughly the same size and bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for about 30 minutes.

Sweet Potato Mini Muffins

  • 1 Cup Whole Wheat Flour
  • 2 Eggs
  • ½ Cup Sweet potato puree
  • ¼ unsweetened applesauce

Combine all ingredients and place into two mini muffin tins* bake at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for 20 minutes.

*If you only have a standard size muffin/cupcake tin, that will work, just adjust the cooking time by adding an additional 5-7 minutes and only give your pup ½ of a muffin at a time!

Pumpkin Coconut Creamsicles

  • 1 Cup Pumpkin Puree
  • ½ Cup Coconut Milk
  • Sprinkle of Cinnamon

Combine all ingredients, pour into a food-safe silicone mold and freeze for 4+ hours.
