Small, cute, fluffy, active and simply a lovable and huggable creature- this has to be the cutest hybrid yet. The Schnoodle has a lot of personal uses, ranging from being a companion dog, to being a family dog and also as a performance dog, because well, who would not want to show off such a beauty? No one! Discover more about our Schnoodle puppies for sale below!
Breed history
The Schnoodle is a hybrid of both the Schnauzer and the Poodle, two actively fierce and adorable dogs. The first appearance of the Schnoodle was in the 1980s. they needed to bring the Poodle’s calm, sensitive and loving characteristics together with a Schnauzer’s active, fierce and intelligent characteristics.
One more thing they needed to do was transfer the Poodle’s hypoallergenic nature to another dog- a new breed. Thus, the Schnoodle was created. The Schnoodle comes mostly in black, black and white, gray and silver.
Temperament
The Schnoodle is a very active dog; they are always jumpy and playful and also love to be the center of attention. They take two distinctive character traits from both parents; from the poodle, they take the attention-seeking desire to please, and from the Schnauzer, they take the full-blown activeness.
They are very friendly and love to be with family and children. They adapt easily to a new environment and they are not very annoying when you first get them as they easily adjust to your characteristics. This adaptability helps in creating a better relationship between you and the dog. They are also highly sensitive dogs. The Schnoodle, because of the intelligence of both parents inherited, is a very intelligent dog.
Environment
The Schnoodle likes being inside an apartment, they do not love large spaces and outdoors, they would rather sit on your lap or be indoors. They do not appreciate cold weather so much, so try to keep your home, or wherever you keep them in a warm temperature. They are bound to be found crouching near where there is warmth, hence their attachment to being carried around. They also enjoy car rides as it affords them time to be near the owner, so they would not mind a drive around town in the evening.
Exercise
Although they are very active dogs, the Schnoodle requires at least 30 minutes to one-hour exercise daily to keep them from gaining weight and to keep them active and healthy. They need to be stimulated both physically and mentally as often as possible, to keep them intelligent.
Grooming
They do not shed a lot, however, you still have to trim their furs, wash them at least five times weekly. It is this regular because their coat is tangle-prone and needs to be kept untangled. You should also remember to clip their nails. Use a blow dryer if they do not dry up fast as they are not such huge fans of the cold.
You have to watch their feeding as they have a high tendency to add a lot of weight. they also do a lot of drooling, so you might have to watch what is kept around them to save you having drool all over your important things. If you mind, that is. Their grooming process is low maintenance and might not even need a visit to the vet to have it done, as it can be done by you, in the comfort of your home.
